NCAA WACO REGIONAL FINAL RESULTS<https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/243265/scoring/team>

WACO, Texas – Shooting a lights-out 6-under over the closing six holes, Baylor women’s golf is back “where we need to be,” earning its sixth-consecutive NCAA Championship appearance on Wednesday by finishing third at the NCAA Waco Regional at Ridgewood Country Club.

Going into the final round tied for fifth with Tulsa at 6-over, the Bears used the late flurry of birdies to finish a comfortable seven shots above the cut line at even-par 840, recording the best score of the day with a 6-under-par 274.

“Having the low round of the day on our home golf course, that’s more what I would have expected,” said Baylor coach Jay Goble. “I can’t be any more proud of this group, but it doesn’t surprise me. They have a lot of grit and a lot of determination and they fight hard. They fight for every shot, which is fun.”

SMU and fourth-ranked Texas A&M pulled away from the rest of the field, finishing 17- and 11-under, respectively, with Baylor, LSU (1-over, 841) and 16th-ranked Tennessee (7-over, 847) rounding out the advancing teams for the NCAA Championship May 22-27 at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

Well below the cut line at one point, the Vols were 7-under over the last six holes before beating Tulsa in a sudden-death playoff.

“I’m always worried until the last putt goes in,” Goble said. I probably turned my phone of 100 times today. ‘I’m not going to look at it anymore.’ And then, two minutes later, I turned it back on. But again, I’m not surprised with this group, because they fight for every shot. I think we deserve to be in Carlsbad next week. For us to get the opportunity to go back there again for the third time – and this is six in a row now – this team is where we need to be.”

Senior Bridget Boczar, who Goble described as the “Ridgewood Killer,” birdied three of her last five holes and tied for the second-lowest round of the day with a 4-under 66 that left her in seventh place at 4-under 206.

“I don’t know if there’s really any secret, I just stay patient out there,” Boczar said. “I knew that I was hitting good shots, and I’ve been hitting it well all week. So, I knew it was only a matter of time before a few of those putts dropped.”

Division II transfer Charlotte Brook carded a 1-under 69 and moved up six spots to tie for 15th at 1-over 211, with senior Silje Ohma also shooting 69 in Wednesday’s final round and thing for 28th at 4-over 214. Sophomore Malena Castro had a bogey-free second nine of 2-under 33 and moved into a tie for 24th at 1-over.

Junior transfer Yurang Li, coming off her first-career hole-in-one in Tuesday’s second round, had one of her two birdies on the day at the par-4, 114-yard 16th hole and shot 2-over 72 to finish tied for 24th with Castro at 1-over.

Baylor is one of five Big 12 teams advancing to the NCAA Championship, joined by Houston, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech for the trip to California.

Texas A&M’s Vanessa Borovilos shot 5-under 65 in the final round to win medalist honors, edging TCU’s Kirsten Angosta by four strokes. Angosta was the low individual on a non-advancing team, matching Boczar’s 4-under 66 and finishing second overall at 6-under t advance to the NCAA Championship.
