FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor’s sprint crew won three events, and senior Tenly Kuhn dominated the pole vault competition on Saturday at the TCU Alumni Invitational in Fort Worth.

Sophomore Abbas Ali and freshman Success Oyibu gave the Bears a sweep of the men’s and women’s 200 meters, while senior Laurenz Colbert opened his final outdoor season by winning the 100 meters in 10.37 seconds.

Ali clocked a PR time of 20.72 in the men’s 200, edging Enoch Fosuhene (20.80) of East Texas A&M, with Baylor’s Ricquan Graham (21.31) and Aren Spencer (21.37) finishing seventh and eighth to give the Bears three of the top eight spots.

Baylor also dominated the men’s 100, with Colbert, freshman Bailey Hashmi (third, 10.37) and sophomore Austen Diggs (fifth, 10.43) placing in the top five.

On the women’s side, Oyibu made a splash in her first collegiate outdoor meet, running a PR time of 23.11 to win the 200 meters by almost half a second over Niamh Le’Gall of East Texas A&M. BU sophomore Hannah Lowe was sixth in 23.89, just five hundredths of a second off her career best.

By the time Kuhn entered the pole vault competition at 13-7, the other 13 vaulters were already done for the day. She cleared 14-3 ¼ on her second attempt and passed on the next height before missing all three attempts at 14-10.

Peyton Berry of East Texas A&M and Emily Cloutier of Oklahoma tied for second at 12-5 ½, with Baylor’s Keidra Mills (11-11 ¾) and Rayna Cheng (11-5 ¾) placing fifth and eighth, respectively.

On Friday, Baylor’s Kiara Wesseh and Logan Todorovich tied for sixth in the high jump at 5-5. Sophomore thrower Joshua Johnson topped his previous best by nearly a foot, finishing sixth in the shot put with a best of 51-8 ¾.

At the World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, Baylor junior Demario Prince broke his own school record in finishing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles final with a time of 7.43 seconds, just three hundredths of a second behind winner Jakub Szymanski of Poland.

Baylor coach Michael Ford made the trip to Poland and also saw former Baylor All-American and two-time NCAA champion Trayvon Bromell win a bronze medal in the 60 meters with a time of 6.45 after running a then-world-leading time of 6.42 in the semifinals.

Next, the Bears turn their attention to the opening home meet of the season, the Clyde Hart Classic March 27-28 at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.
