INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – No. 8 Baylor men’s tennis dominated in day one of the UTR Collegiate Championship against No. 51 Memphis, where it secured a 4-0 win at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday afternoon.



Baylor (11-6) clinched against Memphis (7-8), marking its first neutral site win of the season in a prevailing fashion. The Bears dominated the Tigers in both singles and doubles, not allowing Memphis a point on the board.



THE RUNDOWN

Baylor started hot in doubles, dominating on Court Two to secure a 6-4 win by Connor Van Schalkwyk and Luc Koenig. Following after, Memphis took Court One 6-4 after Zsombor Velcz and Alexandru Chirita dropped. Baylor went on to win on Court Three 7-6(5) with Devin Badenhorst and Blake Anderson to win the doubles point for the Bears.



Moving over to singles, Baylor struck first by winning on Court Two with Zsombor Velcz taking it 6-2, 6-2. Followed directly by Connor van Schalkwyk winning on Court Three 6-4, 7-5. Lastly to clinch the match was Devin Badenhorst winning on Court One 6-4, 6-4.



There were three unfinished matches, including on Court Four with Chirita leading 6-3, 1-6, 2-0. Koenig on Court Five even at 3-6, 6-4. And on Court Six Louis Bowden leading 7-6, 1-1.
