WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s basketball took a loss at home on Tuesday night against No. 12 Texas Tech with a final score of 92-73.



Baylor (11-7, 1-5) was unable to hold Texas Tech (15-4, 5-1) back from the three-point line, with the Red Raiders sinking 17 made threes, 14 of those coming in the first half.



As a team, BU shot just under 50-percent from the field, with Cameron Carr leading the Bears in points (18), rebounds (9) and assists (5).



Although the Bears scored an equal number of points in the second half as the Red Raiders, the 19-point differential was too much to overcome, with Texas Tech claiming three players with 20-plus points on the night.



THE RUNDOWN

Texas Tech set the tone right from the opening tip, knocking down a three on the first possession. Carr made an early defensive highlight with a big block, but the Red Raiders stayed hot from beyond the arc and quickly built a lead. Baylor got on the board with a mid-range jumper from Tounde Yessoufou, but Texas Tech maintained an early 14-8 advantage.



Midway through the half, Texas Tech capitalized on a Baylor scoring drought and struggles at the free-throw line. Back-to-back three-pointers stretched the lead to double digits, and an and-one bucket extended the advantage to 16 heading into the second media timeout. Baylor responded when Obi Agbim hit a jumper and later connected with Carr on an alley-oop, sparking a brief rally. Dan Skillings Jr. fueled an 8-0 run with back-to-back scores, cutting the deficit to eight.



Texas Tech quickly regained control with consecutive three-pointers. Carr added a highlight dunk late in the half, and the Red Raiders capped the period with a buzzer-beating three, taking a commanding 55-36 lead into halftime.



The Red Raiders opened the second half by scoring first, stretching the lead to 21. Caden Powell responded with a layup, but Texas Tech answered with two buckets in the paint to maintain control. Agbim hit a mid-range jumper, and back-to-back layups from Yessoufou and Carr trimmed the gap slightly with just under 14 minutes remaining.



Texas Tech remained efficient, hitting a three-pointer to rebuild its cushion. Carr and Yessoufou scored back-to-back layups, and Isaac Williams IV knocked down a three to keep Baylor within striking distance. However, turnovers and Texas Tech’s hot shooting allowed the Red Raiders to extend their lead to 25 with under eight minutes to play.



Baylor continued to fight, with Williams and Yessoufou each hitting triples, and Carr adding a tough finish in the lane. Texas Tech remained in control, converting free throws and continuing its dominant run. The Red Raiders closed strong, securing a 92-73 win.

Baylor remains at home to host TCU on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m. CT at Foster Pavilion. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
