AMES, Iowa — Taliah Scott hit a jumper with two seconds remaining, and No. 22 Baylor escaped with a 72-70 victory over No. 10 Iowa State on Sunday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum.

The win marked Baylor's (13-3, 2-1 Big 12) first road victory over a top 10 opponent since Dec. 30, 2023, when the Bears defeated Texas in Austin. It was also the third top 10 road win in the Nicki Collen era.

Scott finished with a team-high 21 points on 6-of-24 shooting, including the game-winner, all coming in the second half. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs dominated the glass, tying her career high with 20 rebounds while adding 13 points for Baylor.

The Bears trailed 21-17 after the first quarter but rallied in the second, outscoring Iowa State (14-1, 2-1 Big 12) 24-18 to take a 41-39 halftime lead. Baylor shot just 36.4 percent in the opening quarter but improved to 46.7 percent in the second, making 4-of-7 from 3-point range.

The Cyclones led by as many as six points in the second quarter at 30-24 with 5:58 remaining before the Bears rallied.

The Bears seized control in the third quarter, opening the period by completing a 10-3 run that was brought into the break. Scott scored six points during that stretch, and Jana Van Gytenbeek added a driving layup to give Baylor a 49-42 lead with 7:22 left in the quarter.

Iowa State battled back behind, pulling even at 51-51 on Jada Williams' 3-pointer with 3:50 remaining, and the teams traded baskets the rest of the third. Mackenzie Hare's 3-pointer with 25 seconds left tied the game at 56-56 entering the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, Baylor took its largest lead of the period at 68-62 with 4:37 remaining after Kiersten Johnson hit a 3-pointer, her career-high third of the game. Iowa State responded with an 8-0 run, capped by Williams' 3-pointer with 27 seconds left that tied the game at 70-all.

After a timeout, Baylor worked the clock before Scott rose up for the game-winning jumper from outside the paint with two seconds remaining and Iowa State was unable to get off a final shot.

Van Gytenbeek added 11 points and seven assists for the Bears, while Johnson finished with nine points, all on 3-pointers. Yuting Deng contributed 12 points off the bench on 4-of-8 shooting.

Williams led Iowa State with 28 points and Audi Crooks added 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting, limited to 55 percent, her lowest output since March 6, 2025.

Baylor shot 37.5 percent from the field but was aided from a strong showing at the free-throw line, making 17-of-18 attempts. Iowa State shot 38.0 percent overall.

The Bears held a 46-39 advantage on the glass, with Littlepage-Buggs pulling down seven offensive rebounds.

BU is back in action on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT, facing Colorado at Foster Pavilion. The matchup will be live on ESPN+ and the Baylor Sports Media Network.
