DALLAS – In a week filled with three top-ten upsets, No. 19 Baylor was defeated in the ITA National Indoor Semifinals by the No. 7 Texas Longhorns, 4-0, at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Monday night.



Baylor (7-3) struggled to find a rhythm versus Texas (8-3). The Longhorns jumped out to an early lead and didn’t look back on their way to a 4-0 sweep. The Bears couldn’t quite capture that comeback magic they showed on Saturday versus Wake Forest as their magical run came to an end.



THE RUNDOWN

In doubles, Texas was able to secure the point with a 6-3 win Court One and a 7-5 win on Court Two. 1-0 Longhorns.



In singles, Texas picked up where they left off, collecting a win on Court Four against Alexandru Chirita, 6-4, 7-5, taking a 2-0 lead. It was all Texas the rest of the way, as they were able to win Court Two 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, with Zsombor Velcz dropping his first match of the week after a 5-0 record over the last three matches. Louis Bowden on Court Three couldn’t hold on, 6-4, 7-5, with Texas securing a 4-0 match victory.

Baylor made its first appearance in the ITA National Indoor Championship Semifinals for the first time since 2022 on Monday night.
