MICHAEL JOHNSON DAY 1 RESULTS<https://results.ntxtiming.com/meets/68802>

WACO, Texas – While the 23rd-ranked Baylor women recorded four event wins on the first day of the Michael Johnson Invitational on Friday, sophomore Logan Todorovich captured the heptathlon at Louisville’s Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational by breaking a school record that had stood for almost a decade.

Beating Jenna Pfeiffer’s previous program record by more than 80 points, Todorovich amassed 5,666 points over the eight events while setting personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles (14.05), 800 meters (2:23.14), long jump (19-9) and shot put (36-5 ¾).

“Definitely want to start with Logan doing a great job in Louisville,” Baylor coach Michael Ford said. “New school record in the multis, sits No. 4 in the Big 12 right now. So, looking forward to see what she does in about two weeks going into the Big 12 Championship.”

Closer to home, in the Bears’ final home meet at Clyde Hart Stadium, sophomore Janae De Gannes had a season PR in winning the long jump with a mark of 21-4 ¼, edging Tarleton State’s Prestina Ochonogor by just one-quarter of an inch.

A pole-vaulting crew that ranks No. 2 nationally went 1-2-3 for the third time in Baylor’s three home meets this season. Molly Haywood set a season PR of 14-10 ¼ and won for the fourth time in five outdoor meets, with seniors Tenly Kuhn (14-6 ¼) and Alencia Lentz (14-6 ¼) placing second and third, respectively.

On the track, senior All-American Tiriah Kelley won the 200 meters with an outdoor season-best time of 22.51 that ranks fourth all-time in program history and tied for fifth nationally. Royaltee Brown (23.49) and Jada Edwards (23.71) also had season PR times, finishing sixth and ninth.

The Baylor women also dominated the 1,500 meters, taking three of the top five spots with PR times by Ruth Kimeli (1st, 4:22.42), Ella Perry (3rd, 4:40.51) and Lucy Benton (5th, 4:43.24).

Abbas Ali led a trio of Baylor sprinters with podium finishes in the men’s 200 meters, placing third in 20.94 seconds. Austen Diggs was seventh (21.13) and Laurenz Colbert eighth (21.15).

Baylor also got top-eight finishes from Parker Brannon in the pole vault (7th, 16-7 ¼), Joshua Johnson in the discus (7th, 156-11) and freshman Caleb McCarver in the 1,500 (8th, 4:02.09).

“Overall, we had a great meet,” Ford said. “Looking forward to tomorrow with the 1976 Southwest Conference Indoor championship team getting recognized and then the senior group.”

Baylor will honor its 16 seniors at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, a recognition of the 1976 team at 1 p.m. and the late Jayson Baldridge at 1:30 p.m. as the Baylor Legend. The field events begin at 11 a.m., with running events at 12:30 p.m. and wrapping up at around 4:15 with the women’s and men’s 4x400-meter relays.
