DALLAS – For the second consecutive day, Baylor women’s golf struggled on its second nine and fell to eighth in the team standings on Friday at the Big 12 Championships at Dallas Athletic Club.

Senior Bridget Boczar recorded one of the best rounds of the day at 2-under 70 with five birdies to move up to a tie for 11th individually. At even-par 144 through the first 36 holes, Boczar is leading the field in par-4 scoring (3.80, -4) and is tied for fourth with nine birdies.

“Bridget had a solid day,” Baylor coach Jay Goble said, “and it’s cool to see her continue her good play.”

Sixth after Monday’s first round, the Bears climbed to as high as fourth but played the last eight holes in 10-over to fall to eighth at 15-over 591. Houston remained atop the leaderboard at 4-under 572, followed by 15th-ranked UCF (even-par 576), No. 25 Iowa State (+2, 578), No. 22 Arizona State (5-over, 581).

“A lot of the same today,” Goble said. “We played 90% of a great round.”

Sophomore Malena Castro shot 2-over 74 and is tied for 19th at 2-over 146. Illinois transfer Yurang Li posted her second-straight 3-over 75 and is tied for 37th at 6-over 150, with senior Silje Ohma tied for 44th at 8-over 152.

Freshman Amelia Wan, subbing for Division II transfer Charlotte Brook, birdied her first hole of the day and had a counting score of 5-over 77.

Paired with TCU and Kansas for Saturday’s final round, Baylor will start on the front nine for the first time in the 54-hole tournament with tee times starting at 8 a.m.
