ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 11 Baylor men’s tennis face unranked Utah in the first round of the Big 12 Championship at 9 a.m. CT on Thursday, April 16, at the USTA National Campus. The Bears sit at the three seed for the tournament, with the Utes land at seed six.



Baylor (21-8, 6-2) enters the tournament following their double header match against TCU and UTRGV, which resulted in a loss against TCU but a dominating win against UTRGV to wrap up the regular season. Against Utah, the Bears have beat the Utes in the last four matchups, most recently 4-1 at the Hurd Tennis Center.



Utah (7-15, 2-6) is coming into the tournament on a two-game win streak following its matches against Idaho and BYU. The Utes defeated their in-state rival, BYU, for their last regular season match in a close 4-3 decision. Their roster holds no nationally ranked players.



BU still shows a competitive roster, with three highly ranked players. Devin Badenhorst sits in the top 10 at No. 8, followed by No. 44 Zsombor Velcz and No. 50 Connor Van Schalkwyk.
