ATLANTA – Baylor women’s basketball’s Darianna Littlepage-Buggs and Taliah Scott have received honorable mention on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Coaches’ All-America Team, the association announced XX afternoon.
The selection follows both Bears being named regional finalists for the WBCA All-America teams before the start of the NCAA Tournament.
Littlepage-Buggs earns honorable mention for the second straight season after being named to the All-Big 12 Second and All-Defensive Teams. She became the ninth Bear to surpass 1,000 career rebounds and finished with 1,164, averaging 9.1 per game. The senior’s production places her fourth in program history in both career rebounds and rebounding average. Her 344 rebounds this season helped her tie for No. 9 on Baylor’s single-season rebounding average list at 10.1. She also ranks No. 8 in Big 12 history for career rebounds and is one of four players in league history to lead the league in rebounding in back-to-back seasons.
The Oklahoma City native recorded 14 double-doubles this season and ended her career with 44, the fifth most in program history. She reached double-figure scoring 24 times and grabbed 10 or more rebounds in 19 games. She matched her career high with 20 rebounds at Iowa State and became the fifth Bear to record multiple 20-rebound games in her career. She also posted a career-high five steals against UTSA.
Scott scored 649 points in her first season at Baylor and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team. She averaged 19.7 points, reached double figures 30 times and led the Bears in scoring in 27 games. She surpassed 1,000 career points, becoming the 22ndplayer since 2000 to hit the milestone in 48 games or fewer, tied for the 19th fewest needed.
The Orange Park, Fla., native posted a season-high 32 points with six 3-pointers against Iowa and recorded her first career double-double with 23 points and 10 assists against Southeastern Louisiana. She tallied four steals in games against Louisiana Tech and Southeastern Louisiana and made a career-high 13 free throws at Oklahoma State, tying for the ninth most in a game in program history.
Scott made an immediate impact on Baylor’s record book, tying for No. 3 on the program’s single-season 3-pointers list with 80 and set the school record for attempts with 249. She made 205 free throws, the fifth most in a season, and her 229 attempts tied for eighth. Additionally, she set Baylor’s single-season free-throw percentage record at 89.5% by going 205-for-229. She delivered Baylor’s 19th and 20th all-time perfect double-digit free-throw games by going 11-for-11 against Alabama State and Arizona while adding three more games with 10 or more makes at the line.
