WACO, Texas – The Baylor Equestrian team fell to No. 4 Auburn on Saturday at the Auburn Equestrian Center, 16-2.
The Bears (0-2) couldn’t get it done against the Tigers (1-0) on the road, scoring one point in Flat and one in Reining.
THE RUNDOWN
Starting in Flat, Caroline Robelen went up against Auburn’s 86 and would upend it with a 92 for a Bears point. Lauren Jorgensen earned a 77, but the Tigers would garner a 79 to tie up the match. Lauren Reid’s 76 was not enough to best Auburn’s 86. Morgan McCarthy lost her point 90-84, and Juliette Earley’s 91 was three points off to beat the Tigers’ 94. Auburn took the event 4-1.
In Reining, Sadie Peters earned a 68 but was ultimately bested by the Tigers’ 72.5. Kalena Reynolds would come up short by half a point, scoring a 69.5 to Auburn’s 70. Riley Cachat garnered a score of 70.5 that was bested by the Tigers’ 71.5. Isabella Hehr would earn BU’s sole point in the event with a 66 over Auburn’s 63. Britt McIlnay tied the Tigers’ 68.5 with no point being awarded. Auburn won the event 3-1.
At the half, the Bears were down 7-2 heading into Fences and Horsemanship.
To start Fences, Reid earned an 87 but was bested by Auburn’s 88. Katie Smith lost by a point to the Tigers, 84-83. Jorgensen’s 81 was upended by Auburn’s 86. McCarthy lost by a point, 83-82, for an Auburn point. Emma Covarrubias and the Tigers’ Kate Parker would tie at 84-84, with no point being awarded. The Tigers took the event 4-0.
In Horsemanship, Anna Thron scored a 74 against Auburn’s 77, the Tigers’ point. Taylor Smith earned a 73 to Auburn’s 74.5. Olive Holm garnered a 73.5 score that was bested by the Tigers’ 75.5. Carley Rutledge scored a 76.5 to Auburn’s 77 and Addisyn Albers earned a 75 against the Tigers’ 76. Auburn won the event 5-0 and took the meet 16-2.
WHAT’S NEXT
BU returns to Texas and heads north on I-35 to face conference foe TCU on Oct. 9 at 10 a.m.
