Baylor T&F Kicks Off Outdoor Season at Clyde Hart Classic

Bears earned 12 first place finishes including a new program record

WACO, Texas – In the first meet of the outdoor season, Baylor track & field wrapped up the Clyde Hart Classic with 12 first place finishes including a new program record set by freshman thrower Igor Olaru at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.



THE RUNDOWN

Beginning the day at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Olaru took control in his outdoor debut earning a 201-00 mark on his first throw to set a new program record in hammer throw, which was previously held by Gary Moore Jr. with a 199-1 mark. Olaru went on to break the record once again on his fifth throw and earned a 206-07 mark and earned first place for hammer throw.



Moving on to women’s javelin throw, sophomore thrower Ellie Fooshee earned herself a new PR with a 136-02 mark and made the podium with a second-place finish. Freshmen multis Kiara Wesseh and Logan Todorovich both set new PRs for javelin with Wesseh garnering a 117-07 mark and Todorovich earning a 114-06 mark. Freshman multi Dexter Brice earned his PR in men’s javelin throw with a 143-00 mark.



The indoor All-American junior pole vaulter Tenly Kuhn earned gold with a 14-01.25 mark, picking up from a successful indoor season. Junior pole vaulter Lillianna Ifft earned a third-place finish with a 12-07.50 mark. Finishing up in field events, freshman jumper Iyanna Webb and sophomore jumper Bella Copeland earned first and second place finishes respectively. Webb had a 42-04.75 mark while Copeland earned a 41-04.50 mark.



Going into the running events, the Bears took the gold in the women’s 4x100m relay. The squad of Aaryona Kinchen, Hannah Lowe, Summer Sergeant and Michaela Francois ran for a time of 44.79.



In both the men’s and women’s 1500m, the Bears set new PR’s including two podium finishes. Sophomore Ruth Kimeli ran for 4:33.42 to earn herself a first-place finish while, sophomore Aiden Ramshaw earned a second-place finish with a 3:56.49.



Keeping the streak going, dual-sport athlete Mason Dossett earned a first-place finish in the 110m hurdles with a 14.11 time. In the women’s 100m hurdle, Kaylah Braxton earned a wind-aided third place finish with 14.00.



Moving into the men’s 400m, BU took both first and second. Tyler Honeyman earned gold with a 46.96 time while, Aren Spencer took silver with a 47.27 mark and earned himself a new PR. In both 800m races, the Bears swept the first places with Alaina Zamorano earning gold for the women and Ethan Wrase getting it for the men. Zamorano ran for 2:19.98 while Wrase had a 1:55.53 time.



In the 3000m race, Baylor took gold for both the men’s and women’s races. Ella Perry earned a 10:26.01 time and Nolan Keenan garnered an 8:50.38 mark to earn himself a new PR. Closing out the meet in the men’s 4x400, BU’s squad earned the top of the podium. The quad of Spencer, Honeyman, Abbas Ali and Ricquan Graham ran for 3:08.25.



WHAT’S NEXT

The Bears now prepare to travel to Baton Rouge, La. as they compete in the Battle on the Bayou on March 28-29.
