NEW ORLEANS – Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with Baylor’s Alexis Brown being named the Women’s South Central Region Field Athlete of the Year.



Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following the conclusion of the 2025 NCAA DI Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Performances from both the NCAA Championships and the regular season were considered. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.



Brown made history as she became the first Baylor athlete (men or women) to win a national championship in the long jump event. At the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships, Brown soared, breaking her own Baylor program record twice and the facility record with her gold-winning 22' 7.75" (6.90m) mark. Her championship-winning mark ranks tied for fourth in DI Indoor meet history, tied for seventh in all-time collegiate history, and tied for fifth in the World for this season.



Brown was selected from teams across the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas in the South Central Region. The Kennedale, Texas, native is the first Baylor athlete to win the regional award since KC Lightfoot in 2021 and the first female Baylor athlete to be represented since the award process began in 2006.



Baylor track & field opens its outdoor season on Saturday, March 22, at home at the Clyde Hart Classic. Field events begin at 10 a.m. with running events following at 2 p.m.
