EUGENE, Ore. – Baylor track & field saw two men push through to the finals of the NCAA Outdoor Championships at the historic Hayward Field on the first day of competition on Wednesday.



Nathaniel Ezekiel continues to shock the world. The senior came out to send a message with a blistering 47.86 time in the 400mH, the first sub-48 time in the semifinals in NCAA Championship history. Ezekiel now has the seventh, eighth and ninth fastest times in NCAA 400mH history.



The Bowerman Watchlist candidate demolished the field, clearing his heat by over two seconds and leads the overall field by 1.21 seconds.



Ezekiel rebroke all the records he set already at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, including the NCAA lead time, the Nigerian national record, the Baylor program record, and now sits at No. 3 in the World this season.



In the 110mH, Demario Prince put up a solid showing, winning his heat with a 13.27 time to advance to his first NCAA Outdoor Championship final. Prince’s mark was the third-fastest overall in the field and is the 20th fastest time in NCAA Outdoor Championships history.



Prince’s second-best mark of his outdoor career came after two false starts in his field from Florida and Texas A&M.



The 110mH final is set for Friday at 7:52 pm CT with the 400mH final following at 8:27 pm CT, both on ESPN2.



In the 200m, De’montray Callis finished his Baylor career with a 22nd place finish in the 200m at 20.84.



In the 4x400 relay, the squad of Tyler Honeyman, Abbas Ali, Jack Jackson and Aren Spencer finished 22nd with a 3:09.63 mark.



In the field event, Igor Olaru ended his standout freshman season with a 17th overall finish in the hammer throw with a best throw of 216-5. Olaru finishes his freshman campaign as the only rookie qualified in the championship field, a Big 12 Outdoor runner-up and the eight-time program record holder for Baylor.

“Nate did a great job today in the 400h, collegiate lead, school record and etc.,” head coach Michael Ford said. “Looking forward to seeing him compete on Friday. Demario did a good, focusing after the two false starts. I am happy for him advancing to his first final. Coach Dalton did a great job coaching those two.”
