IRVING, Texas – A total of 127 Baylor student-athletes were recognized for their academic achievements as the Big 12 conference announced its 2024-25 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team as well as its 2025 Spring Academic Team on Tuesday afternoon.



Between the two teams, 38 freshman Bears were added to the All-Big 12 Rookie Team, while 89 BU student-athletes were represented on the Spring Academic Team.



Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team must be new, first-time/incoming freshmen that have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.



Additionally, the student-athlete must have participated in at least one of their team's scheduled contests and must have been a member of their respective team for their sport's entire NCAA Championship segment. The Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team was introduced in the 2012-13 academic year.



The Spring Academic All-Big 12 Teams recognize the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at Conference institutions that participate in spring sports. Out of the total 89 Bears represented, 19 were nominated with a perfect 4.00 grade point average.



The Women’s Track & Field led the way for the spring sports with 32 honorees, while Baseball (16), Men’s Track & Field (14), Softball (11), Men’s Golf (5), Men’s Tennis (5), Women’s Golf (4) and Women’s Tennis (3) were each represented.



To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or the previous two semesters, and must have participated in at least 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
