COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Baylor track and field finished its first day at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational at the E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station.



Program record-holder Igor Olaru continues to shine in the outdoor season, breaking the program record with a 214-2 mark. Olaru set his old program record at the Clyde Hart Classic with a 206-07 mark.



THE RUNDOWN

Starting the day in the Women’s Heptathlon and Men’s Decathlon, four new PRs were set. Freshman multi Kiara Wesseh earned two new PRs in the high jump (5-3.75) and in the 200m (25.57). In addition to Wesseh’s PRs, freshmen multis Logan Todorovich and Shaye Feely earned new PRs in the 200m, earning a 25.28 and a 26.76 time respectively.



The Bears started hot in field events, beginning with the hammer throw. Olaru threw for a 214-2 mark to break the program record he created in March and earn third place.



Heading into pole vault, junior pole vaulter Keidra Mills set a new PR at the 11-2.25 mark. On the men’s side, pole vaulter Parker Brannon earned a new PR at 16-6.75, while Nate Butler set his seasonal best at 15-5.



In the running events, BU continued to set more PRs. Senior distance runner Alaina Zamorano set her new PR in the 1500m at 4:44.04. In the men’s 1500m, sophomore distance runner Aiden Ramshaw ran for 3:53.40 to earn a top-5 finish and a new PR. Senior distance runner Devin Duran also set a new PR at 3:59.61.



Closing the day in the women’s 5000m, freshman distance runner Ella Perry earned a top-5 finish with a 17:27.47 time. Senior distance runner Jordan Ledington and sophomore distance runner Kat Helmer set new PRs, with Ledington getting a 17:35.93 time while Helmer ran 18:27.07.



WHAT’S NEXT

The Bears continue competition on the final day in College Station on Saturday. The Decathlon and Heptathlon start at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively, followed by field events at 2 p.m. and running events at 6 p.m.
