GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Baylor track & field wrapped its third outdoor meet of the season with four events won at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville over Friday and Saturday.
During the second day of competition, the Bears won two events of the triple jump and the 4x400 collegiate relay. Overall, BU earned 14 finishes inside the top-10 over the two-day event.
THE RUNDOWN
Starting the day, the 4x100 squad of Tiriah Kelley, Hannah Lowe, Alexis Brown and Michaela Francois ran for a 43.43 time to finish third. The mark is the third fastest time in Baylor history and currently ranks tied for third in the NCAA.
In the 400m, Aaryona Kinchen (54.58) and Aren Spencer (47.09) both earned PRs to lead the Bears in the event.
In the women’s 100m, Brown led for the Bears, finishing in fifth at 11.32. Brown had an outstanding meet in the Sunshine State, breaking the program record in long jump, earning a top-10 mark in the NCAA in the 4x100 and her top-five finish in the 100m.
On the men’s side in the 100m, Laurenz Colbert grabbed a top-10 finish with a season-best time of 10.29.
To round out the running events, the women’s 4x400 team of Sima Lucero, Kelley, Calisha Taylor and Kinchen went out with a bang in the 4x400 collegiate event, winning gold and running the seventh fastest time in the NCAA this season.
In the field events, triple jump earned a one-three finish with freshman Iyanna Webb winning the event with a PR of 42-11.75. Webb currently ranks No. 8 in the NCAA. Right behind her was Bella Copeland with a 41-3 mark.
In the men’s pole vault collegiate, Parker Brannon grabbed a top-10 finish at 15-11.
MIKE ON THE MIC
“Solid Day Two at the Florida Relays,” head coach Michael Ford said. “Grateful for Coach Holloway for letting us compete. Coach Stacey did a great job with a 1-3 finish in women’s triple jump. I was pleased with the women’s relays with the 4x1 placing 3rd and 4x4 winning the college division and both running season best times. Overall, I am pleased with the team’s effort and where the team is heading.”
