THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer recorded its second-straight ranked draw of the week as it tied No. 22 TCU, 1-1, Sunday afternoon at Betty Lou Mays Field.

Off to a slow start for both teams in the first half, it was TCU who put a shot on frame first in the 9th minute, but Baylor goalkeeper Azul Alvarez came up with the save.

It was the Horned Frogs that dominated shots in the first 45, with 10 shots, two on goal, but the Baylor defense and Alvarez kept the Horned Frogs off of the board.

Baylor’s first shot of the match came in the 38th minute when Theresa McCullough put a shot out wide, before Hannah Boughton took her shot just high of the crossbar.

Starting strong in the second half, Hannah Augustyn headed a ball off of the top woodwork before getting the ball back and placing it the back of the net to give BU the 1-0 lead in the 59th minute.

TCU then fired off four shots, but the Baylor defense was able to hold them off. The Horned Frogs scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute, when Bella Dioria scored off of an assist from Camryn Lancaster to make it a 1-1 game.

After the TCU goal, the Horned Frogs totaled seven more shots, forcing Alvarez to make two more saves in goal, but that would be all as Baylor’s Theresa McCullough put the last shot on frame in the 88th minute but a save forced the 1-1 tie at the end of regulation.

QUOTABLE
Head Coach Michelle Lenard on the game …
“I think looking at the big picture in 90 minutes, I think that's a well-earned point. I think both teams competed well. We had some scary moments for sure, that we had to manage. I thought we did a good job of managing those moments. But we also had some really good moments in possession. We created some good chances in the second half, so not satisfied, but overall, happy with the performance."
WHAT'S NEXT
Up next, the Bears will head to Lubbock to face Texas Tech on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. CT.
