WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis head coach Michael Woodson completed his Signing Class of 2025 with big time addition of Alexandru Chirita from Romania.

“We’re very proud to have Alex Chirita joining our roster for this spring season,” said Woodson. “Alex has great experience competing successfully at the highest international level of our game and earning the title of Romanian national champion, all while constantly succeeding in his studies. His addition will add terrific experience and depth to an already strong roster. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to Baylor.”

Chirita is a 21-year-old graduate transfer coming to Baylor after having completed his undergraduate education at home in Romania while also playing professional tournaments. Chirita reached a career-high ATP singles world ranking of 723, and a career-high ATP doubles ranking of 777 – boasting a pair of ITF singles finals, one ITF doubles title, and three ITF doubles finals.

Chirita also took home the men’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles titles at the 2023 Romanian National Championships.

The grad-transfer will join the Bears in January to compete in the spring of 2025 competition.
