WACO, Texas – The Baylor men’s tennis team will compete in three tournaments over the course of this weekend. Two Bears will stay in Waco for the Brazos Challenge, five will take I-35 to Fort Worth for the ITA Central Sectional and three will travel to Rome, Georgia to the ITA Conference Masters Championships. The ITA Sectionals and Masters Championships gives Baylor the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Individual Tournament, which is later this month at the Hurd Tennis Center.
At the ITA Sectionals<https://colleges.wearecollegetennis.com/Competitions/TexasChristianUniversityM/Tournaments/overview/A0A6B2D5-6752-429E-887A-7EE6CF7AD449>, Louis Bowden, Devin Badenhorst, Oskar Brostrom Poulsen, Marko Miladinovic and Quintan Van Wijk and are set to compete from Nov. 7-10. Bowden and Van Wijk will compete in the doubles bracket, while the other three Bears will take action in the singles bracket. Badenhorst and Miladinovic both went 3-1 at the ITA Texas Regionals, and Brostrom Poulsen won the singles consolation bracket. Miladinovic is 3-1 against ranked opponents this fall, and the trio will look to find more success this weekend.
The 2024 ITA Sectional Championships will have a draw size of the following, (Singles: 32) (Doubles: 16). From this, six singles players from each section (24) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (semifinalists, two quarterfinal playoff winners). Meanwhile, three doubles teams from each section (12) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the Sectional Championships (champion, finalist, third place).
At the ITA Conference Masters Championships<https://wearecollegetennis.com/ita-conference-masters-championships/>, Zsombor Velcz, Luc Koenig and Imran Daniel Hazli will represent the Big 12. Velcz competed in the main draw of the ITA Texas Regionals and placed third out of a 108-player field. With multiple ranked wins, he will represent the conference in singles in Georgia. Koenig and Daniel Hazli went 4-1 and earned their position after making the finals at Regionals. The surprise pair hopes to continue rolling in Rome.
The 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championship will have a draw size of the following, (Singles: 32) (Doubles: 32). From this, four players (4) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (semifinalists). Meanwhile, three doubles teams (3) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the Conference Masters (champion, finalist, third place).
In Waco, Justin Braverman and Luis Jose Nakamine will play in the Brazos Challenge<https://colleges.wearecollegetennis.com/Competitions/ITA/Tournaments/events/A0E9EE36-DF1E-45CE-9730-E24BB21855BA> from Nov. 8-10 at the Hurd Tennis Center.
