Baylor WT Takes Care of Business against UCF
The Bears have won four in a row, including three Big 12 matchups

WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s tennis defeated the UCF Knights at home Friday evening, 4-2, in their first home conference match of the season.



The Bears are now 3-0 in Big 12 play and have won eight of their last nine matches, four of those wins coming at home.



Scoring in doubles play began with a 6-1 win on court one by Zuzanna Kubacha and Sierra Berry, and a follow-up 6-4 win on court two by Miska Kadleckova and Danielle Tuhten. Isabella Harvison and Liubov Kostenko’s match on court three ended prematurely, with the pair of Bears up 5-4.



In singles, Zuzanna Frankowska was on the verge of a 6-1, 6-0, victory on court six but received the win due to a medical retirement by Mihaela Tsoneva at 6-1, 5-0. UCF responded by notching back-to-back wins, with Jantje Tilbuerger defeating Kubacha on court four, 6-3, 6-2, and Anique Kattenberg defeating Tuhten on court five, 6-4, 6-3.



With the match tied at two-all, Kadleckova pushed the Bears back out in front by defeating Olivia Lincer on the top court, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, and Harvison fought back to clinch the match for the Bears, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. Kostenko’s match remained unfinished at 5-7, 6-3, 5-1.



The Bears will stay in Waco for their second match of the weekend on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center, facing off with the Houston Cougars.
