WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis head coach Michael Woodson announced Friday the signing of Quintain Van Wijk, a University of Nebraska Omaha transfer from Willemstad, Curacao.



“It’s not often you get the opportunity to work with players that have risen to the top of multiple collegiate programs. We get that chance with Quintan joining us this season,” said Woodson. “He has been an absolute joy to get to know over the past few months in the recruiting process. He has been an underdog for years and has battled his way to success at all levels of the game. He will bring a work ethic, humility, and bulldog mentality that will help us in our pursuit of Big 12 and National Championships this coming year. We can’t wait to help him realize his goals on and off the court.”



Van Wijk boasts a career 31-12 singles record competing in the DI level. The junior has led the Mavericks the past two seasons with the most singles wins, holding a 14-8 record during the 2023-24 season and an impressive 17-4 record in 2022-23.



The Willemstad, Curacao, native played at lines one, two and three in singles for Omaha this past spring.



In doubles, Van Wijk recorded an 18-23 career record. Overall, Van Wijk led UNO to two consecutive double digit win seasons (12-11 in 2024, 13-11 in 2023).



Van Wijk started his career at Davenport (DII) and owned an impressive 19-4 singles record. He finished the regular season year winning nine of 10 singles matches. Van Wijk was named the 2022 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and was also tabbed First Team All-GLIAC.



Van Wijk will join the Bears in Waco for the 2024 fall season.
