AUSTIN, Texas – Baylor track and field’s Alexis Brown capped off a successful academic and athletic season, earning College Sports Communicators (CSC) First Team Academic All-America accolades, the organization announced Tuesday.
Brown becomes the first track and field athlete, man or woman, to receive first-team honors in program history. She is also the 11th overall track and field athlete and sixth woman in program history to obtain CSC Academic All-America honors.
The Kennedale, Texas, native holds a 3.66 cumulative GPA while obtaining her degree in Health, Kinesiology & Leisure Studies.
In action, Brown has had a standout senior season. For the indoor season, Brown earned 2024 All-Big 12 Indoor titles in the 60 meters and long jump events, 2024 Big 12 Indoor Silver Medalist in long jump and was named 2024 NCAA Indoor & Outdoor All-American in long jump.
Brown didn’t stop there as she went on in the outdoor season to PR in all her events and break multiple Baylor records. Brown was named the Big 12 Women’s Performer of the Year after she ended the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship with two tiles in the long jump and the 4x100 meter relay. She became the first Bear to cross the 22-foot mark in the women's long jump in program history, landing a conference championship-winning 22-5 leap at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.
At the NCAA Outdoor Championship meet, Brown recorded a fifth-place finish to claim her All-America honors and returned to the historic Hayward Field at the U.S. Olympic Trials weeks later to finish in fifth in the long jump event.
