BENIN CITY, Nigeria – Baylor track and field athletes Nathaniel Ezekiel and Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi have been named to Team Nigeria’s Olympic team for the 2024 Games in Paris, France.



This will be both Ezekiel and Prosper Nnamdi’s first appearance at the Olympic Games.



Ezekiel, a junior from Delta State, Nigeria, will compete in the 400-meter hurdles. Ezekiel currently ranks No. 1 in his home country in the event with a time of 48.00 flat. During the 2024 NCAA Championships, he claimed his second straight bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles. The junior ended his season with his sixth-total All-America honor and the third straight in the event.



Prosper Nnamdi, a junior from Awka, Nigeria, currently ranks No. 1 in Nigeria and 35th in the world in the men's javelin throw event with a best of 271' 8". At the 2024 NCAA Championships, Prosper Nnamdi tabbed his third All-America honor in the event. Earlier in June, Nnamdi competed for Team Nigeria at the African Championships in Douala and earned a silver medal in the event.



The track and field portion at the Paris Games begins August 1 and finishes August 11. The men’s javelin throw event will begin on August 3 while the men’s 400m hurdles will take place on August 5.
