WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) announced its inaugural Hall of Fame class Wednesday afternoon, including former Baylor student-athlete Samantha Schaefer and former sport administrator Nancy Post.

Honorees must have made great and/or unusual contributions in support of the NCEA in personal time, effort, performance, and/or material and services over and above all ordinary expectations of the average supporter. Honorees were identified in three distinct categories: athletes (Legacy 2000-2007; Current 2008-2017), coaches and special contributors. Nominations were accepted from all current and former NCEA member institution representatives. The NCEA Board of Directors and Hall of Fame Selection Committee determined the honorees.

A three-time NCEA First-Team All-American, Schaefer competed at Baylor from 2011-2015 in Fences and Flat. By the end of her illustrious career, she had compiled 22 Most Outstanding Performer honors in Fences with an all-time regular-season record of 36-4-1 in the event. She finished on the Flat with a 33-7 career record and 15 MOPs. The most decorated rider in BU history, Schaefer helped the Bears earn their first Hunter Seat National Championship title as a freshman in 2012.

Schaefer also earned Big 12 Fences Rider of the Year three consecutive seasons, 2013-2015. The Westminster, Md. native posted a perfect 16-0 Big 12 Championship record over her career and helped BU claim the 2015 Big 12 title, only the second in program history. Schaefer was named the Big 12 Championship Fences Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) four consecutive years 2012-2015.

Schaefer led the Bears to four-consecutive appearances at the NCEA National Championship, including a trip to the semifinals in her senior season, 2015. She collected the 2012 and 2015 NCEA National Championship MOP nods in her events, which remain the only such honors in program history. While finishing her classes in her fifth year on campus, Schaefer also helped student-coach the Baylor program to round out her tenure in Waco

Post was instrumental in bringing equestrian to Baylor in 2005. The 1987 BU graduate was integral throughout the implementation and advancement of the program and served as the sport administrator until the 2022-23 season. She also served the NCEA as the Championship Manager for 15 years in a row, 2007-2021, as hosted by Baylor at the Extraco Events Center in Waco. Post fostered a strong relationship with the City and County, even defraying the cost of Extraco rental for the tournament. She played a critical role in the NCEA’s partnership with the AQHA and now continues to serve on multiple NCEA committees as well as assist with NCEA Championship operations.

Schaefer and Post are joined in the inaugural class by former Texas A&M student-athlete Quincy Cahill Allen, Texas A&M coach Tana McKay, Auburn head coach emeritus Greg Williams and USEF special contributor Tom O’Mara.
