CLEMSON, S.C. – The Baylor track and field team travels east to compete in Clemson’s Tiger Paw Invitational at the Rock Norman Track and Field Complex. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT on Friday with the open section of the men’s weight throw and at 8 a.m. on Saturday with the women’s shot put & high jump.

DISTANCE DUO IN BEANTOWN

Splitting off from the rest of the team on Friday and Saturday, Coach David Barnett is taking Ryan and Ellie Hodge to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University. CLOSING CHAPTER

Clemson’s Tiger Paw Invitational is the final regular season meet of the 2024 indoor schedule. After one week off, Baylor heads back to Texas Tech’s Sports Performance Center for the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships, Feb. 23-24. LAST TIME OUT

The Bears recorded seven collegiate titles at the Frank Sevigne Husker Classic in Lincoln, Neb. With an impressive showing from the sprint squads, De’montray Callis won the men’s 60 and 200 meters, Tiriah Kelley won the women’s 200 meters, Demar Francis won the men’s 400 meters and Imaobong Uko won the women’s 400 meters. Program record holder Alexis Brown also took her first career title in the women’s long jump. The Bears ended the meet by improving on the women’s 4x400 season-best time, moving to 3:38.73.



SPEEDY SPRINTS & HIGH-FLYING VAULTERS

In the USTFCCCA’s #EventSquad rankings released on Feb. 5, Baylor boasted four groups in the top 20. The men’s 200 meters led at No. 5 and the women’s pole vault ranks sixth. The women’s 60 meters and 200 meters are also in at 16th and 19th, respectively.



RECORD BREAKERS

Gary Moore Jr. (weight throw) and Brown (long jump) set program records on the first day of competition in the season-opening McFerrin-12 Degree Invitational in College Station, Texas. In BU’s next meet, junior Nathaniel Ezekiel broke the collegiate 600-yard record in 1:04.44.



BEARS TO BOSTON

With the top 16 marks headed to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the end of the season, Baylor currently has seven entries temporarily qualified to the championship meet. Freshman pole vault duo of Molly Haywood and Alencia Lentz are tied at No. 7 with their 14-5 ¼ performance at the Corky Classic. Brown is ninth in the long jump, Koi Johnson is 11th in the triple jump, Demario Prince is 14th in the 60-meter hurdles and the men’s 200 meters features another Bear tie with Francis and Laurenz Colbert taking up the last two spots knotted at 15th.
