WACO, Texas – Baylor acrobatics & tumbling opens the 2024 season on the road at Texas Lutheran on Saturday, with start time set for 3 p.m. at Memorial Gymnasium.

BU was named preseason No. 1 by the NCATA head coaches on Feb. 1, the ninth season in a row to be voted into the top spot.

Saturday will be the first program meeting between the Bears and Bulldogs, but there will be familiar faces across the mat as BU alumnae Camryn Bryant and Sophia Ranni serve as TLU’s head and assistant coach, respectively. Bryant is the inaugural coach of the Bulldogs, the program holding its first season last year.

The meet will be streamed on TLU's YouTube channel<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jxd89Y43bR8> and updates can be found on the Baylor A&T X account, formerly Twitter. A full recap and final scoresheet can be found on BaylorBears.com following the meet.

Baylor head coach Felecia Mulkey is entering her 10th season, boasting a 117-4 career record and 84-2 with the Bears. She and her squad are looking to end the season as they have the last eight years - with an NCATA Championship title.

BU welcomed back 33 letterwinners to the 2024 squad while adding 14 freshmen.

The Bears also added an assistant coach in Shayla (Moore) Hutchins, a Baylor A&T alumna, after she started the program at Emmanuel College. Cassandra Rowell, sister to assistant coach Kelsey Rowell, is also assisting the program.

Baylor continues to add new elements into their repertoire year after year, such as adding acro elements the “ring” and “pencil” last year. Many of the new elements are based in-meet by Bayley Humphrey with Jordan Gruendler as the top as they come from acrobatic gymnastics backgrounds, but many team members are getting in on the action.

The Bears will open their home campaign on Feb. 11 against Mary Hardin-Baylor at the Ferrell Center, with a start time of 11 a.m.
