THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer took down St. Bonaventure, 5-2, Sunday night at Betty Lou Mays Field in the Bears season opener.

QUOTABLE
Head coach Michelle Lenard on the game …
“I thought St. Bonaventure came out and played really hard. They were really organized and disciplined in their defensive positioning. We knew they'd be hard to break down and that definitely presented some challenges early on in the first half. It took us 15-20 minutes but once we figured a few things out I thought we improved a lot."
Marissa Gray on the teams dynamic …
“I feel like everybody genuinely wants to grind it out and play for each other and just ball for one another, no matter what that looks like on the field or off the field, whether you're a bench player or a starter, everybody is a cohesive front.”
Ashley Merrill on her first brace of the season …
“That was exciting, it was nice to get the first one out of the way. I was anticipating it because I was nervous, but it was fun.”
WHAT'S NEXT
Up next, the Bears will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii, to face the University of Hawaii on Aug. 21, and Portland on Aug. 25.
