LEADING OFF

• Baylor Baseball kicks off the homestretch of the season with a Tuesday midweek contest against UT Arlington.

• Eight of BU's final 12 games will be played at home at Baylor Ballpark in Waco.

• The Bears are coming off being swept at No. 21 West Virginia and dropped into a tie for ninth place in the league.

• Baylor's nine conference wins are its most since the 2021 season (11-13).

• In the stretch in which BU won 10 of 11 games, the Bears racked up nine or more hits nine times, scored eight or more runs nine times, and struck out eight or more batters nine times.

• Redshirt junior OF Enzo Apodaca<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/enzo-apodaca/13013> became the first Bear to hit a leadoff home run in two seasons when he did so Friday night at West Virginia.

• Fifth-year senior INF Cole Posey<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/cole-posey/13007> hit two home runs in Sunday's series finale at West Virginia, the first multi-HR game of his career.

• According to Pro Baseball Radar, BU faced the nation's toughest schedule through the first month of the season based on 2023's RPI and win percentage.

• 60% of Baylor's offense (237 of 392 hits) has been produced by underclassmen or players in their first season at Baylor.

LEADING FROM THE TOP

• Since his return to the leadoff spot in Baylor's batting order on March 29, redshirt junior OF Enzo Apodaca<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/enzo-apodaca/13013> has slashed .338/.430/.486.

• Apodaca had his 16-game hitting streak snapped on Sunday vs. Kansas, but owns a team-leading 14 multi-hit performances and leads the club with eight multi-RBI games in 2024.

• Redshirt junior OF Enzo Apodaca<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/enzo-apodaca/13013> was named the Big 12 Player of the Week two weeks ago after leading the league with a .600 batting average in three games at BYU.

• Apodaca reached base in 12 of his 18 plate appearances against the Cougars, totaling nine hits, a home run and five RBIs.

• The product of Scottsdale, Ariz., drove in runs in each of the three games, including a trio of RBIs in the Saturday finale in which he crushed his career-high fourth homer of the season.

• His weekly award marked BU's third of the season and the fourth of the Thompson era. Additionally, this is the third time since 2015 that BU has had a Player, Pitcher and Newcomer of the Week honoree in the same season.

STRIKE A POSE

• Since being reinserted into the starting lineup and hitting a grand slam against Incarnate Word on April 5, fifth-year senior INF Cole Posey<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/cole-posey/13007> leads the team with a .396 average (19-for-48) and has driven in a team-best 14 runs.

• The journeyman from Georgetown, Texas, has hit all four of his 2024 home runs over that stretch, also a team best.

• Posey logged his first-career multi-HR game on Sunday at West Virginia with blasts in each of his first two AB's.

ON-BASE MACHINE

• Junior OF Wesley Jordan<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/wesley-jordan/13033> is currently riding a 31-game on-base streak, the longest such streak by a Bear since Davis Wendzel reached in 37 straight games in 2018.

• On Tuesday, Jordan became the ninth Bear to boast an on-base streaks of at least 30 games since the 2003 season.

BY THE NUMBERS VS. UT ARLINGTON

• Baylor leads the all-time series, 90-35, over UTA, including each of the last three meetings and a 3-1 win two weeks ago.
