WACO, Texas -- No. 34 Baylor women’s tennis fell in its home finale to the No. 8 Texas Longhorns, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center.



Baylor concludes the regular season 16-10 overall and 7-6 in conference, and will be gearing up for the Big 12 Conference Championships beginning on Wednesday in Stillwater, Okla. Texas rose to 12-1 in conference, 19-4 overall.



The doubles decision was a close one, coming down to a third-set tiebreaker on court three. Following a Texas win by No. 37-ranked pair Malaika Rapolu and Tanya Sasnouskaya, 6-2, and a Baylor win by Miska Kadleckova and Danielle Tuhten, 6-3, Taisiya Pachkaleva and Shachf Lieberman clinched the point over Lauren Littell and Brooke Thompson with a hard-fought, 7-6(4) decision.



Texas built an early advantage by taking court six, 6-2, 6-0, and court five, 6-3, 6-1. A 6-3, 6-1 win by No. 123 Taisiya Pachkaleva on court four sealed the match in Texas’ favor.



The top three courts remained unfinished, with No. 118 Kadleckova battling No. 20 Malaika Rapolu, 5-7, 0-1, and Isabella Harvison up on No. 119 Charlotte Chavatipon, 7-5, 2-1. Luba Kostenko was ready to split sets with No. 33 Tanya Sasnouskaya.



Baylor wraps up the regular-season slate at The Hurd with a 9-3 mark after winning nine of its first 10 home matches and its only losses coming to top-20 foes.



The Bears return to the courts on Wednesday for the beginning of the Big 12 Championships in Stillwater, Okla. Match times have yet to be determined.
