Baylor MT Set for Two Conference Matchups in Oklahoma

WACO, Texas – No. 31 Baylor men’s tennis continues its conference road swing on Friday and Sunday, taking on the 11th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners in Norman before traveling to Stillwater to face the No. 33 Oklahoma State Cowboys.



Completing their second and third of four-straight conference road matches, the Bears (18-7 (2-2 Big 12)) come off a thrilling 4-2 victory against the BYU Cougars in Utah and look to Oklahoma (17-2 (4-0 Big 12)) on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center.



The Sooners are off to a perfect start in conference play, with wins over Texas Tech in Lubbock, BYU in Provo, No. 3 TCU in Norman and UCF in Orlando already this season. The squad posts one ranked doubles pairing in Baptiste Anselmo and Alex Martinez at 68, while No. 16 Martinez is the lone ranked singles player.



BU gets a site visit for the upcoming Big 12 Championships and NCAA finals at the Greenwood Tennis Center as it takes on the Oklahoma State Cowboys (15-6 (2-2 Big 12)) on Sunday at 1 p.m.



The Cowboys are on a two-game skid, dropping matchups against UCF and TCU and will host the fifth-ranked Texas Longhorns on Friday afternoon. OSU boasts Tyler Zink and Isaac Becroft at No. 30 in doubles and has Zink at No. 23, Alejandro Garcia at No. 71 and Becroft at No. 78 in singles play.



The new ITA rankings for the Bears saw a jump up for Tadeas Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz, moving 11 spots to 29. In singles, Paroulek stays leading at 68, with Velcz just behind at 88 and freshman Devin Badenhorst at 99.



Nearing the end of the regular season, Badenhorst continues to lead BU in spring singles wins with 13, supported by a two-match streak. Louis Bowden is the winner of three straight, including a clincher against Texas Tech.



In doubles, Paroulek and Velcz, mainstays at Court One, have been victorious in 12 spring matches including all three of their previous attempts. Badenhorst and Luc Koenig are just one match behind at 11 wins.
