Baylor MGOLF Continues Fall Slate at the Fighting Illini Invitational

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Baylor men's golf will compete against one of the best fields of the season when The Bears tee it up at the Fighting Illini Invitational on Friday morning at Olympia Fields Country Club.

In addition to featuring 14 teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest Golf Coaches Association Poll, the event will be played at Olympia Fields Country Club, which has hosted several major championships and the 2023 BMW Championship on the PGA Tour. Head coach Mike McGraw looks forward to this event every year, and he is excited to see his team compete on this championship venue.

"We are always excited to be playing this event on such a historic venue,” McGraw said. “Olympia Fields is a great test of golf.”

Johnny Keefer will play out of the No. 1 position after his tie for first in San Antonio. With his 6-under 210 in the Alamo City, he is now within .10 strokes of Jimmy Walker for the career stroke-average record.

Luke Dossey will play out of the No. 2 spot for the second-straight week, looking to build on a tie for 10th at the Valero Texas Collegiate. Dossey finished tied for 12th in his debut at the Fighting Illini Invitational last season.

Trey Bosco will play at No. 3, making his third appearance at the Fighting Illini. Bosco carded a tie for 17th in his last appearance at Olympia Fields, one of his four top-25 finishes a season ago.

Zach Heffernan will make his debut at the Fighting Illini, playing out of the No. 4 position. Heffernan had a strong finish to the Valero Texas Collegiate, combining to shoot 1-under in his final two rounds.

Jonas Appel will play at the No. 5 spot in his first appearance at Olympia Fields. In his first event in the lineup, Appel closed strong in San Antonio last week with a final-round 71 to finish tied for 38th.
