LEADING OFF

• Baylor Baseball travels north to Fort Worth for an important Big 12 series against TCU this weekend, its final conference series of the 2023 season.

• BU embarks on a season-closing sprint, with seven remaining games scheduled over the next nine days.

• The Bears are coming off a pair of midweek losses against Grand Canyon and Lamar.

• 9 of the 13 runs BU allowed this week were unearned.

• Baylor is 15-7 this season when scoring six or more runs and 6-0 when scoring 10 or more runs.

• BU is also 11-2 this year when leading the ballgame after six innings and 11-4 when out-hitting its opponent.

• Junior OF Hunter Simmons<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/hunter-simmons/12080> is 8-for-16 with three runs scored, a home run and three RBIs since returning from injury.

• Junior RHP Jared Matheson<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/jared-matheson/12088> worked a season-high 5.0 innings and struck out a personal-best six against Lamar on Wednesday, earning a no-decison in the loss.

MOTHER'S DAY MEMORIES

• Over the last 10 seasons, Baylor has played on Mother's Day just three times, and owns an unbeaten 3-0 record.

• In 2021, the Bears crushed Kansas State 23-3 in seven innings for one of its most lopsided victories in recent history.

• In 2018, Baylor topped No. 20 Oklahoma State 7-3 to win the series over the Cowboys in Waco.

• In 2017, BU won a one-run contest over OSU in Stillwater, 8-7, to cap off a series sweep.

FRIDAY FINALES

• Baylor has won four of its last six Friday night ballgames in its final Big 12 series of the season, including each of the last two.

ADD IT TO THE K-COUNTER

• The Bears have eclipsed double-digit strikeouts on the mound in 20 games so far this season.

• BU has punched out at least 13 opposing hitters in 10 games this year.

• Furthermore, Baylor has racked up 15 or more K's in four games this season, including a program record for Big 12 games with 18 at Oklahoma State on March 24.

• Baylor ranks fourth in the Big 12 with 445 strikeouts, though BU's 9.39 K/9 innings ranks second in the conference.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Baylor leads the all-time series, 151-130, over TCU.

• The Bears salvaged last season's series in Waco with a 7-3 win on Sunday.

• In their last meeting, TCU topped BU 4-2 in the opening round of the 2022 Big 12 Championship at Globe Life Field.

• Baylor is 1-8 this season in road conference games -- it's lone win came in the series finale at Texas Tech.
