WACO, Texas – Baylor men's golf earned the No. 6 seed at the NCAA Morgan Hill Regional, announced during the 2023 NCAA Men's Golf Selection Show on Golf Channel Wednesday afternoon. The three-day tournament will be played May 15-17 at The Institute Golf Club in Morgan Hill, Calif.

BU has now been a part of 24 of the last 25 NCAA Postseasons and 29 overall in program history. At nearly 8,000 yards, The Institute Golf Club is one of the longest courses in California, and head coach Mike McGraw is looking forward to watching his team compete in the postseason.

“We are excited to be headed to the Morgan Hill Regional,” he said. “Postseason is such a great time of year and we’re looking forward to being a part of it.”

The Bears will aim to be one of the five teams that advance from Morgan Hill to the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club, May 26-30 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

BU has advanced out of the regionals six times in program history and four times under McGraw. Baylor’s best finish at the NCAA’s in the McGraw Era was a tie for fifth when they reached the Match Play Quarterfinals in 2017 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Hill, Ill.

The Morgan Hill Regional features a 13-team field — No. 1 seed Pepperdine, No. 2 seed Florida State, No. 3 seed Mississippi State, No. 4 seed Arizona, No. 5 seed Louisville, No. 6 seed Baylor, No. 7 seed Missouri, No. 8 seed BYU, No. 9 seed NC State, No. 10 seed California, No. 11 seed Charlotte, No. 12 seed Grand Canyon and No. 13 Northern Colorado. The field includes four teams in the latest Golfstat Top 25 rankings.

Baylor has seen five of the 12 teams in the field this season, going 3-7 against familiar opponents — Pepperdine (1-1), Florida State (0-2), Arizona (1-2), Louisville (0-2) and Charlotte (1-0).

The Bears finished sixth the last time out at the Big 12 Championship in Hutchinson, Kan. BU was led by Drew Wrightson who finished tied for sixth with the second-best 72-hole score at the Big 12 Championship in program history.
