WACO, Texas – A Baylor men’s tennis doubles team was selected to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Individual Championships, the NCAA announced Tuesday afternoon. Tadeas Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz secured a spot in the main draw, while Finn Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi were named fifth alternates for the tournament at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., that will close the 2023 season.



Ranking third in the Big 12 and 14th in the nation, Paroulek and Velcz have provided a boost for the Bears in doubles with a 20-3 dual-match record. The pair boasts the most ITA nationally ranked wins on the team at five and were perfect in Big 12 play at 3-0.



After a stellar fall semester, Bass and Grassi Mazzuchi are doubles bracket alternates after a shortened spring campaign due to Bass’ injury. Overall on the year, the pair went 14-13 and had career-high rankings at No. 3 during the season.



Those competing in the individual brackets will convene in Orlando after the conclusion of the team tournament.



The doubles field of 32 will kickoff on May 23rd.



The Bears received their 25th-straight bid to the team tournament and will open against Florida State in South Carolina on Friday morning.
