WACO, Texas – With just three Big 12 matches remaining on the slate, the Baylor women’s tennis team hits the road this weekend to compete at Texas Tech and TCU.



The Bears (11-10, 2-4 Big 12) and the Lady Raiders (12-6, 2-2 Big 12) will square off at 5 p.m. on Friday, before BU makes its way back to central Texas on Sunday to face the Horned Frogs (9-5, 1-3 Big 12) at 11:30 a.m.



In the latest ITA rankings released on Tuesday, the Bears jumped 19 spots to No. 40 in the nation.



Sophomore Alina Shcherbinina carries a team-leading 13-4 singles record into this weekend’s matchups and has won the last five. She holds a 5-1 mark in Big 12 action and an impressive 9-3 record at No. 1 singles this season.



Isabella Harvison and Anita Sahdiieva each have 10 wins on the year, while Paula Baranano and Danielle Tuhten have seven victories apiece. The Bears are led in doubles by Baranano and Daniella Dimitrov, who have four wins at the No. 1 position. The tandem of Harvison and Sahdiieva have an impressive 4-1 mark at No. 2 doubles, while Shcherbinina and Liubov Kostenko are set to battle at No. 3 this weekend.



Texas Tech has a pair of doubles teams ranked inside the top 50 and check in at No. 33 as a team in the latest ITA rankings. TCU holds an impressive 9-2 record at home and have won two of their last three contests.
