STORYLINES

LEADING OFF

• Baylor Baseball returns home for a Tuesday night tilt against Abilene Christian before traveling to Lawrence, Kan., for a three-game set against the Jayhawks this weekend, March 31-April 2.

• The Bears are coming off a 1-3 week that included an exciting 7-6 win over Sam Houston, and an 11-inning heartbreaker at Oklahoma State in which OSU claimed an 11-9 win after a walk-off two-run home run.

• Baylor finds itself in the middle of the pack after two weeks of conference play. Last weekend, home teams swept all three Big 12 series as an interesting flow chart emerged: Texas swept Texas Tech, who holds a series win over Oklahoma State, who swept Baylor, who won the series over K-State, who swept Oklahoma, who won the series over TCU, who swept Kansas. West Virginia is the only Big 12 team yet to play a conference game.

• Last week, the Bears won a wild Tuesday night game over Sam Houston, 7-6, after an hour and 10-minute rain delay before the start of the eighth inning.

• Freshman OF Caleb Bergman<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/caleb-bergman/12091> delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the eighth as a pinch hitter, then started an 8-6-2-5 double play with no outs in the top of the ninth to prevent SHSU from scoring.

• Baylor pitchers struck out a season-high 18 batters on Friday at Oklahoma State, setting a program record for strikeouts in a Big 12 game.

• BU produced its first four-HR game of the year on Saturday at OSU, as sophomore C Cortlan Castle<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/cortlan-castle/11480> and sophomore INF Hunter Teplanszky<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/hunter-teplanszky/12075> each launched their first-career homers.

• The Bears are 9-2 this season when scoring six or more runs, 7-1 when out-hitting their opponents and 7-0 when leading the ballgame after six innings.

• After freshman INF Kolby Branch's<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/kolby-branch/12083> on-base streak was snapped at 23 games, Teplanszky's 12-game on-base streak now leads the team, while junior INF/OF Cole Posey's<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/cole-posey/12079> eight-game hitting streak is a team high.

ADD IT TO THE K-COUNTER

• The Bears have eclipsed double-digit strikeouts on the mound in 17 of their 24 games so far this season.

• BU has punched out at least 13 opposing hitters in 10 games this year.

• Furthermore, Baylor has racked up 15 or more K's in four games this season, including a program record for Big 12 games with 18 at Oklahoma State on March 24.

• Baylor ranks second in the Big 12 and 10th nationally with 260 strikeouts.

• BU's 10.85 strikeouts per nine innings also ranks second the conference and 19th nationally.

SERIES HISTORY VS ACU

• Baylor leads the all-time series, 14-2, over Abilene Christian, and has won each of the last three meetings.

• Since ACU made the jump to Division I in 2014, the Bears are 2-0 against the Wildcats.

• This will be the first meeting between the two sides in Waco since 2019.

MIDWEEK MOMENTUM

• Baylor is 4-1 this season in midweek games.

• All four of BU's wins have come against teams from the state of Texas.

• The Bears claimed a thrilling, 12-inning victory over DBU on March 7, taking an 8-7 ballgame after freshman INF Kolby Branch<https://baylorbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/kolby-branch/12083> delivered a walk-off single.

• Perhaps Baylor's most complete performance of the year came on March 14 against Rice, as the Bears jumped out to a fast 5-0 lead after two innings and cruised to the tune of a two-hit shutout and a 6-0 final.

• Another wild victory came on March 21, as BU defeated Sam Houston, 7-6, after an hour and 10-minute rain delay.
