TEMPE, Ariz.  – Baylor women’s golf fired a 1-under 287 on Saturday to sit tied for third entering the final round at Papago Golf Club.

Sera Hasegawa continued her stellar play with a second-consecutive 3-under 69 to pull into third place with 18 holes to play. The sophomore transfer is just one shot off the lead of Northwestern’s Kelly Sim and Mississippi State’s Julia Lopez Ramirez.

Northwestern leads the field at 12-under par, while Arizona State is eight-shots back at 4-under par, just ahead of Baylor, who sits at 1-over with 18 holes to play.

THE RUNDOWN
Hasegawa played the front nine at one over with bogeys at Nos. 3 and 6 around a birdie at No. 5. The sophomore played the back nine at 4-under with birdies at Nos. 12 and 16 to go along with an eagle at No. 15 to shoot sub-70 for the second-straight day.

Britta Snyder shot an even-par 72, her first round at par or better in a team event since her 67 at the Match in the Desert in January. Snyder made an early birdie at No. 2 before dropping back to even with a bogey at No. 6, opening with a 36 on the front nine. Snyder strung together an even-par back nine with a birdie at No. 13 and a bogey at No. 15 to finish the second round tied for 23rd.

Hannah Karg also shot an even-par 72 on Saturday to sit in a tie for 39th through two rounds. Karg rolled into red figures with a birdie at No. 4 but made a pair of bogeys at Nos. 6 and 8 to fall back over par. After a birdie at No. 9 saw her make the turn at even par, she dropped another stroke at No. 12, before bouncing back with a birdie at No. 13 to secure an even-par finish and a tie for 39th.

Silje Ohma shot a 2-over 74 to finish the day tied for 32nd. The freshman opened with a bogey at No. 1 and made a double at No. 4 to drop to 3-over on her outward nine, where she finished after a birdie-bogey finish at Nos. 8 and 9. Ohma caught fire on the back nine with birdies on four of her first five holes, before a triple bogey at No. 17 dropped her back over par for the day.

Rosie Belsham shot a 3-over 75 on Saturday to sit in a tie for 43rd. The junior made an early bogey at No. 4 but got it right back with a birdie at No. 5 to finish off the front nine at even par. On the inward half, Belsham made bogeys at Nos. 10, 12 and 17 to finish off the day.

HIGHLIGHTS

  *   BU was one of six teams with all four counting scores at or below the stroke average on Saturday (74.00).
  *   Through two rounds, Baylor had four eagles, while no other team had more than one.
  *   Silje Ohma and Sera Hasegawa are tied for the second-best par-5 scoring average through two rounds.
  *   Hasegawa’s eight birdies are tied for the fourth-most in the field through two rounds.
  *   Hasegawa’s 69 was her 11th round at par or better this season, which ties for the team lead.
  *   65% of Hasegawa’s rounds this season have been at par or better, which leads the team.


QUOTABLE:
Head coach Jay Goble “I think we had another solid day on a challenging course. I think the fight was real today, and I believe this group is doing a good job of quieting outside noise, which is something we will look to continue tomorrow. Sera continues to play great golf, and I'm really excited about the opportunity in front of her tomorrow."

WHAT’S NEXT
The Bears will play with Arizona State and Northwestern in the final round. Rosie Belsham will lead things off for Baylor at 11:00 a.m. CT, just ahead of Hannah Karg at 11:09 a.m. Silje Ohma will take the No. 1 tee at 11:18 a.m., followed by Britta Snyder at 11:27 a.m. Hasegawa will take her spot in the anchor position for the second-straight day at 11:36 a.m.
