ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Baylor track and field wrapped up the first day of the NCAA DI Indoor National Championships on Friday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.



Matthew Moorer, Hasani Barr and Nathaniel Ezekiel all qualified to the final round of the men’s 400 meters, while Demar Francis and Mariah Ayers closed their indoor season in the 200 meters.



THE RUNDOWN

The group of Moorer, Barr and Ezekiel continued to dominate the 400 meters and helped Baylor to be the only school stacked in the men’s final round. For the third-straight race, all three set new personal-bests with Moorer at 45.45, Barr and 45.57 and Ezekiel at 45.69. They now sit at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, in program history.



Ayers opened the evening for the Bears and crossed the finish line at 13th-overall in 22.91 seconds. The senior put up only the fourth sub-23 200-meter dash in the Baylor indoor history book.



Francis finished 11th in the men’s 200 after 20.66 seconds and missed the finals cutoff by three spots.



WHAT’S NEXT

The Bears wrap up the indoor season with Day Two of the NCAA DI Indoor Championships on Saturday, with the men’s 400-meter final at 8:20 p.m. CT. The men’s 4x400-meter relay will close the competition at 9:20 p.m. CT.
