WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s golf coach Mike McGraw announced the return of BU Hall of Famer Jeremy Alcorn as the Bears’ newest assistant coach on Friday.

A four-year letterwinner at Baylor from 2003-07, Alcorn most recently served as an assistant coach at NC State, where he helped the Wolfpack to a postseason appearance in the Morgan Hill Regional. McGraw is excited to bring Alcorn and his extensive experience in the game back to Baylor.

“It’s great to welcome a former BU All-American back to Waco,” he said. “Jeremy will add so much to this program and will be able to speak, with passion, to his experience at Baylor. His enthusiasm for this University is palpable.”

Prior to arriving in Raleigh, Alcorn was an assistant at Liberty from 2019-22, helping the Flames to back-to-back NCAA appearances in 2021 and 2022. During his stint in Lynchburg, he helped coach 11 all-conference selections, six PING All-Region selections and a Golfweek All-American in 2021 (Kieran Vincent). The Baylor All-American helped his athletes in the classroom as well, guiding six Srixon/Cleveland All-Academic Scholars, two ASUN Scholar Athletes of the Year and a Student-Athlete of the Year.

In two seasons in Myrtle Beach, S.C., with Coastal Carolina, Alcorn helped the Chanticleers capture the 2018 Sun Belt Championship en route to the program’s first postseason appearance in seven years. During that run, Coastal Carolina’s Morgan Deneen won the Sun Belt individual title, was voted the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year and named All-Sun Belt First Team, one of three players to earn all-conference honors.

Alcorn brings in Big 12 experience, having spent three seasons (2014-17) at Texas Tech under head coach Greg Sands. In that span, he helped the Red Raiders to three-straight postseason appearances, including a berth in the 2015 NCAA Championship. Tech never finished lower than fourth in its three Big 12 Championship appearances in any of those seasons.

Before joining the coaching ranks, Alcorn spent time as a professional on the Adams Tour and won his career-first event in 2009, the Jamie Hilton Hillcrest Children’s Golf Classic in Waco. He shot all four rounds in red figures and won on the first playoff hole. In total, he won two events on the Adams Tour before spending time on the PGA Tour as a caddy for Brice Garnett.

A member of the Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022, Alcorn ranks second in program history with five individual tournament victories, highlighted by a stellar 2005 season where he earned first-team All-Big 12 and honorable mention All-America honors as a sophomore. He was twice named Big 12 Golfer of the Month, won three medalist honors and had a 71.763-stroke average that ranked as the second-best in school history at that point. Today, he still ranks among the all-time leaders in career top-10 finishes (17), top-five finishes (11) and scoring average (73.19).
