IRVING, Texas – For the seventh time this season, and fourth time in five weeks, Baylor women’s basketball’s Darianna Littlepage-Buggs has been selected as the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.



With her seventh honor of the year, the Edmond, Okla., native became the first BU rookie since Nina Davis in 2014 to collect it seven times in a season. Additionally, she is one of just four players in the Big 12 to earn the distinction at least seven times in a single season since 2009.



Littlepage-Buggs helped the Bears pick up a pair of 10-point victories last week, averaging 11.0 points and a team-best 11.0 rebounds per game. Her 22 boards and 11.0 rebounds per contest were the second-most in the league, and she led the Big 12 rookies in scoring.



In the win at TCU, Littlepage-Buggs recorded her 13th double-double of the season and ninth in conference play. Her nine double-doubles in Big 12 action are the most by a Baylor rookie dating back to at least the 2009-10 season, surpassing Brittney Griner’s eight.



In Saturday’s 71-61 victory over Texas Tech, she reached double-figure scoring for the 16th time, scoring 10 of her 12 points in the fourth quarter.



Baylor returns to action tonight at No. 12 Texas. Tipoff between the Bears and Longhorns is set for 6 p.m. from the Moody Center and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
