WACO, Texas – No. 8 Baylor equestrian (4-4, 2-1) hits the road this weekend to face Minnesota Crookston (0-3) and Fresno State (0-6, 0-3) at the Student Horse Center in Fresno, Calif. The meet against the Golden Eagles will begin on Friday, Feb. 3, and resume on Saturday, Feb. 4, with the matchup against the Bulldogs beginning later that day.

The Bears are coming off a strong week at home, having defeated No. 9 UT Martin and South Dakota State with 32 total points, the most in back-to-back meets in program history.

For the first time since at least the 2017-18 season, the Fences squad recorded consecutive 5-0 sweeps behind senior Dominika Silvestri’s fourth-overall Most Outstanding Performer honor of the season. She became the second Bear all-time to collect her fifth-career Fences MOP and was rewarded with three Rider of the Month honors from the National Collegiate Equestrian Association and Big 12 Conference.

Silvestri also boasts a seven-meet win streak in Flat, in which she cruised to yet another MOP honor against the Skyhawks, the eighth of her career between the two Jumping Seat events. She owns a combined 12-3-1 record in Fences and Flat this season.

Career-high performances in Reining from fifth-year senior Madaline Callaway (76), senior Daisy Kaufman (74.5) and junior Shelby Clausen (75.5) helped push the Bears to an 8-2 win on the Western side against SDSU. Additionally, sophomore Alexis Rutledge matched her career high (78) in Horsemanship and earned her second-career MOP on the way to being named the Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Month.

To round out the week’s honors, senior Jenna Meimerstorf was tabbed Big 12 Reining Rider of the Month after posting two wins, including an MOP-winning 74.5 against UTM. She leads the entire team with three MOP’s in a single event this season.

Multiple Bears are riding win streaks of at least four in their respective events, including Lauren Reid (Fences), Rutledge (Horsemanship), Silvestri (Flat) and Maddie Vorhies (Fences).

BU leads the all-time series against Fresno State, 16-6, and has won four of the last six matchups over the Bulldogs.

This will be Baylor’s first meeting with Minnesota Crookston.
