THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer put on a strong show in the first exhibition of the preseason Thursday night at Marita Hynes Field in Norman, Okla., as the Bears topped Oklahoma, 3-2.

The Bears started off strong when Ashley Merrill netted BU’s first goal in the first 30-minute period with an assist from Tyler Isgrig.

Playing three 30-minute periods in the match, Oklahoma took the 2-1 advantage in the second period, before Isgrig found the back of the net in the 25th minute to knot the match at 2-2. The sophomore transfer continued her momentum in the third period when she scored with five minutes left on the clock to give BU the 3-2 lead.

Ashlee Zirkel and Makinzie Short split time in goal for the Bears and helped them to the 3-2 victory.

Baylor plays its final exhibition on Thursday, Aug. 10 at Tarleton. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
