AMES, Iowa - No. 18 Baylor Softball fell against the Iowa State Cyclones, 6-5, in the series finale Sunday afternoon at the Cyclone Sports Complex.

The Bears, now 36-15 on the season and 5-10 in conference play, battled the Cyclones, holding them to just one run through the first three innings.

THE RUNDOWN

Despite getting a runner on base in each of the first two innings, Baylor fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the second when Iowa State capitalized on an error by the Bears

Baylor got the run back in the top of the third, when Presleigh Pilon reached on an error, McKenzie Wilson singled through the left side and Shaylon Govan was issued a walk. With the bases loaded, Sydney Collazos had an RBI groundout to knot the game at 1-1.

ISU had a leadoff single in the bottom of the third, but a double play erased the runners and held the Cyclones scoreless in the inning.

The Bears seemingly busted the game open in the top of the fourth, plating four runs on five hits, after Kaci West singled to right field and Zadie LaValley walked to put two on. Pilon then notched an RBI double to right field to put the Bears up 2-1. Wilson brought home another run on a groundout before Emily Hott and Govan each laced singles to the outfield, making it a 5-1 game.

The Cyclones were able to answer in the bottom half of the inning, plating five runs on six hits, including a three-run homer that gave them the 6-5 lead.

BU threatened in the top of the sixth, after Pilon singled, stole second and was moved to third on a groundout. But after Govan was issued a four-pitch walk, a line-out ended the inning.

The Bears were sat down in order in the top of the seventh, losing their first series of the season to an unranked team.
