DENTON, Texas. – Baylor track and field closed out the North Texas Classic with a limited crew at the UNT Soccer and Track & Field Stadium on Saturday.



Hasani Barr highlighted the day for the Bears, taking two wins in his first meet since the NCAA Indoor National Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.



THE RUNDOWN

In the men’s 400-meter dash, Barr won gold by tying the 11th-fastest mark in the nation so far this outdoor season at 46.10 seconds. About two hours later, Barr returned to the track and took the 200 meters title with a new PB of 20.98 seconds.



Nikayla Fitzgerald was the only Bear to qualify for the final jumps in the women’s long jump competition, taking fourth place with an 18-10 ¾ leap. In the men’s triple jump, Aren Spencer hit his outdoor collegiate-best mark of 46-5 ¾ to also end the competition in fourth place.



Bria Bullard, Summer Sergeant and Michaela Francois went 3-4-5 in the women’s 200 meters, with Bullard leading the charge at 24.13. Kourtney Kennard also competed, finishing 23rd.



Ole Miss transfer Ukurugenzi Kojo made his second outing with the Bears on Saturday, crossing the 6-6 ¾ bar successfully to tie for a bronze-medal finish.



High jumping duo of Aïcha Moumin and Moorea Long tied again, crossing 5-7 together. With earlier attempts considered, Moumin won silver and Long took bronze.



In the pole vault competition, Kierstyn Ballard finished fourth clearing 11-5 ¾ after passing the first two bars, while Keidra Mills got over the first height of 10-6.



In the first successful clearance of his collegiate career, freshman Michael Nance finished fourth at 15-7, while sophomore Nate Butler ended in the fifth spot at the same height.



In the 800 meters, Nicholi Brown ran a 1:54.14 to take seventh place among the seven combined heats.



WHAT’S NEXT

The Bears fly to Florida to compete at the storied Tom Jones Invitational, April 14-15 at James G. Pressly Stadium.
