WACO, Texas – Beginning a challenging stretch of four matches in three days, Baylor men’s tennis will face No. 2 TCU on Thursday at the Bartzen Varsity Courts in Fort Worth, then return home for a doubleheader against Alcorn State on Friday and Senior Day against No. 1 Texas on Saturday at the Hurd Tennis Center.

In its third matchup against the Horned Frogs this year, BU will face TCU in Fort Worth for the first time since winning the Big 12 tournament title in the 2022 season. In the first two matchups of 2023, TCU took 4-1 and 4-0 wins and holds the all-time series, 38-31.

TCU (18-1, 2-0 Big 12) has maintained a top-3 ranking all season and only took one loss to the then-No. 3 Texas Longhorns in Fort Worth two weeks ago.

Alcorn State and Baylor will face off for the first time on Friday, with the first match beginning at 3 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center. Match No. 2 is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Braves come to Waco with a 4-16 record, 2-2 in the SWAC. In their last two matches, Alcorn swept Mississippi Valley State before getting swept by Alabama State.

Facing the national No. 1 squad for the third time this season, the Bears will close out the home regular season against the Texas Longhorns (18-2, 2-0 Big 12) on Saturday at 6 p.m. Texas took the No. 1 spot after defeating TCU and has only taken losses to then-No. 2 Ohio State and then-No. 3 TCU.

Texas holds control of the all-time series, 45-27, and the Bears are 3-13 against a national No. 1 team.

Following Saturday night’s match, BU will celebrate the team’s 2023 senior class, Finn Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi.

In the latest ITA rankings, the Baylor team sits at No. 41. Tadeas Paroulek jumped 42 spots to No. 52 after Big 12 Player of the Week-worthy performances against Oral Roberts, Tulsa, UTRGV and Texas Tech. Bass is one spot behind at 53.

In doubles, Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz move to No. 19, while Grassi Mazzuchi and Bass are, again, one spot back at No. 20.

BU opened conference play on Saturday with a 5-2 against the then-No. 31 Red Raiders and boast a 14-11 record so far this season.

TCU will stream all courts on Playsight<https://web.playsight.com/facility/tcu/home> and will have results online<https://www.sidearmstats.com/tcu/mten/xlive.htm> for Thursday night’s match.
