WACO, Texas – Baylor women's golf opens the 2022-23 season on Saturday morning in the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club.

Jay Goble begins his 12th season with the Bears and has had a recent track record of success in the Sooner State, winning three of the last four tournaments played in Oklahoma. He likes the mix of talent and youth on this roster and looks forward to watching them compete this season, beginning on Saturday in Norman.

“I am seeing some great scores in qualifying here in Waco,” he said. “They are showing some promising things for our future, but now it’s all about building confidence by playing in a lot of golf tournaments and getting these competitive rounds under their belt. We'll know more at the end of next week, but I do believe that moving forward, this team will continue to get better.”

Rosie Belsham will play out of the No. 1 spot for the first time in her BU career. The junior shot par or better in all six qualifying rounds to earn the top spot for her third career start at Belmar Golf Club.

Silje Ohma will make her Baylor debut this weekend at the No. 2 spot. The freshman, who brings impressive distance to the lineup, shot a 61 during qualifying at Ridgewood Country Club to solidify her spot in the season opener.

Another fresh face, Sera Hasegawa, will make her Baylor debut at No. 3 in Norman. The East Tennessee State transfer is coming off a season where she was the Southern Conference’s Freshman of the Year, earning a spot on the All-SoCon team.

Britta Snyder returns for a third year and will play at the No. 4 spot. She tied for third at Belmar Golf Club in her collegiate debut in September 2020. The junior was also impressive during qualifying, carding a 62 in one of her six qualifying rounds.

BaiMai Seema will round out the lineup for Goble at No. 5. The sophomore saw action in seven tournaments a year ago, including the third round of the NCAA Championship at Greyhawk Golf Club.

Anika Veintemilla will compete as an individual this weekend. The senior last competed at the Bruzzy Challenge in April, finishing strong with a career-best 72 in the final round.

The 54-hole tournament will be played over three days, beginning on Saturday morning. Once tee times are finalized, they can be found at Golfstat.com<https://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=participants&tid=25499>, along with live scoring.
