OLYMPIA FIELDS, ILL. – Baylor men’s golf improved its score for a second-straight round to collect a tie for eighth on Sunday at the Fighting Illini Invitational.

All four counting scores for the Bears beat the final-round stroke average of 72.27 en route to a 3-over 283 for the day and an 18-over 858 for the week, beating or tying four ranked teams.

Luke Dossey continued his stellar play with a 2-under 68, his fourth round at par or better in five chances this year. The Austin native started red hot with birdies on his first two holes of the day at Nos. 1 and 2. He added two more birdies at Nos. 6 and 7 for a 4-under 31 on his opening nine. Finishing with a pair of bogeys at Nos. 12 and 16 on the back nine, Dossey tied for 12th, his second-straight top-15 finish to open the season.

Tyler Isenhart put together a solid final round on Sunday with a 1-over 71, improving his score for a second-straight day after an opening-round 78. Isenhart responded to his first bogey of the day, at No. 5, with a birdie at No. 7 to shoot an even-par 35 on the front nine. He continued his steady play on the back nine with eight-straight pars before a closing bogey put him at 1-over for the day and 11-over for the weekend, to tie for 50th.

Johnny Keefer finished in a tie for 43rd after a 2-over 72 and 9-over for the tournament. Keefer opened with a birdie at No. 1 and stayed at 1-under through five holes, before bogeys at Nos. 6 and 9 to close out the front nine. The San Antonio native closed his round with eight pars and just one bogey at No. 14.

Drew Wrightson fired his best round of the week on Sunday, a 2-over 72, to finish tied for 56th. The sophomore made a couple of birdies at Nos. 5 and 6, offset by bogeys at Nos. 4, 7 and 8, for a 1-over 36 on the front nine. He finished the weekend with a matching 1-over 36 on the back nine, thanks to a birdie at No. 11 and bogeys at Nos. 10 and 14.

Following a win in Trey Bosco’s season opener, the junior secured a top-25 with a tie for 17th on Sunday. Bosco made bogeys at Nos. 3, 6 and 7, with a birdie at No. 4 sandwiched between them. Birdies at Nos. 10 and 16 and bogeys at Nos. 11, 12, 17 and 18 on the back nine added up to a 4-over 74, his first score above 71 in six rounds this season.

No. 15 Stanford held off host Illinois and Florida with a 9-under 831 for the team title, while Stanford’s Michael Thorbjornsen took home the individual title with a 7-under 203.
