WACO, Texas – Baylor volleyball freshman setter Averi Carlson has earned her second Big 12 Rookie of the Week honor, announced Tuesday by the conference.

Carlson, a native of Lucas, Texas, was named the Baylor Invitational MVP after recording 30 or more assists in each of the three sweeps for the weekend.

She produced in all facets of the game, with four kills, three blocks, two aces and 106 total assists, averaging 11.78 per set. In a 3-0 sweep of Evansville on Saturday, Carlson helped Baylor break the school and Big 12 records with a .677 hitting percentage, shattering the previous conference record of .597 set by Kansas versus West Virginia on Oct. 3, 2015.

Carlson last earned the honor on Aug. 30 for her 78 assists against No. 5 Minnesota and No. 3 Wisconsin in the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge, the most out of any setter over the tournament.

With the award, a BU player has earned the Rookie of the Week accolade in each of the three weeks of play so far this season. Redshirt freshman Riley Simpson was the Rookie of the Week on Sept. 6 after a strong showing in the Pepperdine Asics Classic.

Baylor is set to face North Texas on Tuesday night with a 6 p.m. start time against the Mean Green.
