WACO, Texas – No. 8 Baylor equestrian (0-2) travels to No. 4 Oklahoma State (0-1) for a 10 a.m. meet on Saturday at the Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center in Stillwater, Okla.

After dropping its first two road meets of the season, BU will look to earn its first win of the year in its Big 12 opener against the Cowgirls, a team the Bears haven’t defeated since March 30, 2019.

Despite the two losses, the Bears won 16 points across their pair of season-opening contests. That was highlighted by seven total tallies in Reining, led by Big 12 Rider of the Month Madaline Callaway, who also earned her school-record seventh-career Most Outstanding Performer honor. Additionally, Annie Vorhies picked up Big 12 Rider of the Month recognition in Fences after two point-winning rides in which she scored a career-high 84.

Alongside Callaway and Vorhies, both Jessica Batton (Reining) and Daisy Kaufman (Reining) went 2-0 in their respective events across the opening week. Gabrielle Marty (Horsemanship), Jenna Meimerstorf (Reining), Elsie Naruszewicz (Horsemanship), Bella Rosa (Horsemanship), Alexis Rutledge (Horsemanship), Dominika Silvestri (Fences, Flat) and Nadalee Vasquez (Horsemanship) were the other point-winners for the Bears.

Under sixth-year head coach Casie Maxwell, BU is 6-22 in road meets, including a 3-11 mark in road conference contests. The Bears went 3-3 away from home last season, with a pair of ranked wins at No. 10 UT Martin and No. 9 TCU.

Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Baylor, 32-13, and has won each of the last eight meetings. However, each of the last five matchups have been decided by four points or fewer. Last season, BU pushed the Cowgirls to the brink three separate times, falling by just one point twice, once at home and again at the Big 12 Championship, and dropping a three-point road contest.

OSU opened its 2022-23 campaign with a narrow loss to then No. 4 SMU, 10-9, in Stillwater. Baylor is looking to hand the Cowgirls back-to-back losses for the first time since 2018.

Live scoring will be available for the meet and can be found here.<https://okstate.com/sports/2016/10/20/equestrian-live-scoring.aspx>

Baylor will return home for its 2022-23 Waco debut against the current No. 1 team in the nation, TCU, on Friday, Oct. 21, with first ride scheduled for 12 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear gold as part of Baylor’s “Go Gold” campaign at the Bears’ first home conference meet.
